Moldex3D Mesh

Moldex3D Mesh is an advanced mesh generator for fast preparation of complex geometries for Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE), including plastic injection molding and structural mechanics.

The Moldex3D Mesh plug-in accesses the newly-enhanced and versatile functions of Rhino 5.0, which makes it capable of importing models in various CAD formats for cleanup, modification, midplane extraction, etc. Moldex3D Mesh supports numerous mesh types, including 2D triangular and quadrilateral meshes and 3D tetrahedral, prismatic, hexagonal, voxel (brick), and pyramid meshes.

Among the automatic and semi-automatic mesh generators that are available in Moldex3D Mesh, the Boundary Layer Mesh (BLM) generator is the most powerful one for complex geometries. The BLM generator allows users to firstly generate inward one or two layers of prismatic meshes out of the triangular surface mesh of the object, followed by filling up the internal space with quality-controlled tetrahedral mesh. With this unique BLM, FEA solvers can capture the variable distribution, such as temperature, more accurately with much less number of elements than the isotropic tetrahedral mesh. The BLM model also benefits the FEA solvers by much more quality mesh than the multilayer anisotropic tetrahedral ones.

Moldex3D Mesh is a natural fit for Rhino users who are interested in exporting quality mesh for structural FEA or injection molding CAE using Moldex3D. More information of Moldex3D Mesh can be found at www.moldex3d.com/en/products/advanced/moldex3d-mesh.

Great Mesh Generator 1/4/2002
I have been using the Moldex-Mesh from the very early beta versions to the official release of version 1.0. Overall, it is a great FEM tool for both surface and solid (tetra) mesh generator. Once you have created your design in Rhino, or any other CAD software, you can create any number of elements size to be suitable for your analysis. The new official release has lots of new enhancements compared to previous beta versions. It provides a complete package of tools to create, edit and verify meshes, and a user interface, which is very easy to use. Some of the interface such as ¡°mesh hole,¡± ¡°merge all mesh points,¡± and ¡°join crossed boundary mesh¡± automate many complicated tasks. After creating very fine surface mesh, you can simply click ¡°create and save as solid mesh¡± button to create true 3D tetra-hydro mesh. I am very sure that many functions that would be complicated to do using Rhino alone are simplified and automated in Moldex-Mesh. I highly recommend Moldex-Mesh, and hope you will take the opportunity to evaluate the software for yourself.

Moldex-Mesh is excellent for the filling analysis of plastic parts 7/31/2002
On behalf of the developer of Moldex-Mesh, we're happy to receive many inquiries about Moldex-Mesh. Obviously, every Rhino fans really like the idea of being able to do shell/solid mesh generations inside Rhino. Combining the advantages of Rhino's advanced CAD functions and state-of-the-art meshing algorithms, Moldex-Mesh is indeed the most easy-to-use yet most powerful finite element mesh generator on the market. Currently, this software is for Moldex users only, as the supported boundary conditions are only for plastic injection molding analysis purposes. If you're a plastic part designer, you will find it very attractive.

Moldex mesh can't be sold alone 7/23/2002
I had a hard time getting info from Moldex. In fact, I think they got surprised by the number of requests on this product (due to the link on Rhino website I guess). Actually, they don't want to sell Moldex-mesh as a stand alone product: it is sold as a companion to Moldex 3D. Therefore, I can give no opinion on the Moldex-mesh product, but I just wanted to clear things out. The 'download' link should also be deleted as there in no downloadable demo. Too bad :(
